First match confirmed: Germany meets the Netherlands

The first match of the 23rd IHF Women's Handball World Championship is confirmed.

Following the EHF EURO 2016 the teams from Norway, Netherlands, France and Denmark are placed in the top row of the 2017 IHF World Championship draw. As the German organizing commitee has already allocated three of these four teams to a preliminary round venue - i.e. Norway to Bietigheim-Bissingen, France to Trier and Denmark to Oldenburg, it is certain that the team from the Netherlands will play in Group D together with German team in Leipzig. The match between the team of German national coach Michael Biegler and Dutch national coach Helle Thomsen will be played on 6 December 2017.

In addition to the four preliminary round venues, Magdeburg and Hamburg are further venues for the main and final roundseighth-finals, quarterfinals and the President’s Cup will be played in Leipzig and Magdeburg and the final weekend from 15 to 17 December will take place in Hamburg.
