IHF and DHB sign contract for the 2017 IHF Women’s Handball World Championship

The 2017 IHF Women’s Handball World Championship is ready to start: On Sunday at the IHF head office in Basle, Switzerland, IHF President Dr. Hassan Moustafa and Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Federation, signed the contract for the event, which takes place in Germany in December 2017.

“Another formal but significant mark was set by these signatures,” Michelmann commented, adding: “Now it is our mission to fill our motto ‘simply wunderbar’ with life, in close cooperation with the IHF. To organize this event is an investment for the whole handball family.”

Six cities will host the matches of the 24 participants from 1 to 17 December 2017. Bietigheim-Bissingen, Oldenburg, Trier and Leipzig will be the venues for the preliminary round, the eighth-finals and quarter-finals will be played in Leipzig and Magdeburg, while Hamburg is the host for the final weekend including semis (15 December), bronze medal match and final (both 17 December 2017).

The ticket sale for the 2017 IHF Women’s Handball World Championship has started last Thursday. Tickets for all venues and categories are available via www.germanyhandball2017.com/tickets.
